National Pilates Studio SEO

Pilates search terms moved into the top 10, with nearly 60% more organic traffic

The Challenge:

A national pilates and fitness studio chain ranked well for its own branded terminology but poorly for the industry terms that drive new customer discovery, including pilates, reformer training, high intensity low impact workouts, and postpartum fitness. Based on its size and popularity, the brand belonged in the top 10 to 20 results for those terms. In practice it averaged positions in the 30s to 70s against competitors and other boutique brands. The brand's positioning made the gap harder to close, since it intentionally kept some distance from traditional pilates and reformer language to establish its own identity. An initial audit also surfaced technical problems working against the content. Hundreds of near-duplicate location pages and broken links to discontinued content, like retired workout calendars, were hurting crawlability and site speed.

Our Approach:

We edited the brand's blog content to bridge two goals: strengthening the proprietary terminology the brand wanted to own, and adding the industry language people use when they search for pilates and related workouts. That language was introduced gradually, so the content stayed true to the brand's voice while becoming easier to find. Internal linking and backlink structure were strengthened along the way. Postpartum and pregnancy content got particular focus as the clearest early opportunity.

On the technical side, we restructured location pages into a centralized format to eliminate duplicate content and remove broken links. That shifted search authority toward the pages the brand most wanted to rank, and it also improved crawlability and site speed. FAQ content was expanded with direct answers to common questions, a format that serves traditional search rankings and AI-generated answers alike.

Our Results:

  • Monthly organic traffic grew nearly 60%, from 25,000 to almost 40,000 visitors

  • Pilates-related search terms moved from the 30s and 70s into the top 10, with several reaching the top 5

  • Postpartum fitness and pregnancy searches saw the sharpest gains, moving from largely unranked into the top 10

  • Hundreds of duplicate location pages were consolidated into a centralized structure

  • Most broken links were resolved, reducing crawl errors and improving site speed

  • Organic growth coincided with more repeat visitors and stronger class package sales

A brand can keep its own voice and still close a search visibility gap by finding the places where brand language and industry language can share the same page. Technical cleanup and content strategy also have to move together, since a site full of broken links and duplicate pages will hold back even well-targeted content. Any business with multiple locations or an older site carrying years of outdated pages is likely dealing with a version of the same problem.
